PRUDENT ENGINEERING TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION SERVICES FOR PennDOT’S FLEETWOOD ROADWAY RESTORATION PROJECT

02.01.2016

(PHILADELPHIA, P.A.) – Prudent Engineering has been selected to provide subconsultant construction inspection services for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Fleetwood Roadway Improvements project. Under this two-project contract, Prudent’s staff will team with CMC, an engineering firm based in Kimberton, PA, to provide inspection services for roadway improvement and roundabout construction activities in Berks County.

The first project involves roadway improvements that target approximately two miles of SR 662 and SR 1010, where new utilities, drainage infrastructure, ADA ramps, curbs, sidewalks, signage, pavement markings, and signal upgrades will be installed. These improvements will significantly upgrade pedestrian safety amenities for this section of roadway. Construction is scheduled to commence in March 2016.

The contract’s second project entails intersection improvements at SR 222 and SR 662 in the Richmond Township. Prudent’s inspectors will monitor construction activities related to building a new multilane roundabout; widening existing lanes to support truck traffic; placing a truck apron around the center island; and installing five-foot-wide sidewalks for pedestrians and bicyclists. The completion of the roundabout will accommodate truck travel, attenuate traffic volumes, and enhance pedestrian safety. The project is anticipated to start in April 2016.

Particular inspection duties will include providing on-site construction inspection and oversight services; maintaining project records and documenting construction activities; preparing cost estimates; and enforcing worker safety standards.
