Prudent Engineering LLP to Inspect Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge For NYSBA
01.04.2017
(EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y.) – Prudent Engineering LLP has been named to work as a subconsultant to WSP USA, as part of the biennial bridge condition inspection program contracted by the New York State Bridge Authority. The contract stipulates that consultants will inspect a different NYSBA bridge for each year of the three-year contract. For 2017, the team is assigned to inspect the Kingston-Rhinecliff bridge which connects Ulster and Dutchess counties in downstate New York.
In order to maintain the safety of this high-volume commuter bridge, a comprehensive condition inspection will be conducted. Equipped with specialized inspection technology and reporting software, Prudent’s team is responsible for field inspection and for flagging any structural deficiencies that require corrective maintenance. Specific inspection concerns for this 7,793 foot long, sixty-year-old bridge include documenting evidence of corrosion, rust, cracks and fissures, concrete deterioration, and other defects that may compromise its safety and structural wellbeing. After assessing the bridge elements, inspection personnel will assign the inspected structure an individual condition rating based on American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) standards.
Prudent provides quality, cost-effective engineering services to government, municipal, commercial, and private-sector entities. Collaborating with clients across New York and Pennsylvania since 1992, our project portfolio includes extensive work experience in bridge, highway, and structural design; condition and safety inspection; civil and site engineering; construction inspection and management; and land/hydrographic survey and mapping.
